East Tennessee State Wins Seventh-Straight With 7-0
Victory at Campbell
BUIES CREEK, N.C. East Tennessee State handed Campbell a 7-0
women's tennis loss on Saturday at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
The
Buccaneeers (7-2) won their seventh dual match in a row by earning
the doubles point, then claiming three-set victories at the top
three singles positions.
Campbell's lone victory came at number-one doubles where Georgiana
Marta and Scarlet Alfonzo defeated ETSU's top tandem 8-4.
ETSU secured the dual match with wins at the fourth, fifth and
sixth singles posts as Sandi Knight, Olya Batsula and Muriel
Sherwood all posted straight-sets victories.
Sulwia Ziolkowska defeated Campbell's Nina Surviladze 3-6, 6-0, 6-0
at number three singles, while Masha Ilina scored a three-set win
over CU freshman Scarlet Alfonzo (6-7, 6-4, 6-1).
At
the top singles position, ETSU's Elena Volobueva won a super
tiebreak for the third set after splitting the first two with
Campbell's Georgiana Marta.
Campbell returns to action Friday at Charleston Southern.
