Campbell
Opens Women's Tennis Season With 4-1 Loss to West Virginia
RICHMOND,
VA. -- Georgiana Marta won at number-one singles, but West Virginia
handed Campbell a 4-1 loss Friday in the first day of the Virginia
Commonwealth University 4-1 Indoor Invitational.
Marta,
a sophomore from Constanta, Romania, defeated WVU's Natalia Prinz
in straight sets (6-3, 6-0) to improve her 2004-05 singles record
to 8-1. However, Campbell dropped the remaining three singles
matches as well as the doubles contest.
Campbell
(0-1) is also scheduled to play George Mason Friday afternoon, then
Drexel Saturday morning in the event.
