Ends Losing Streak with 4-2 Victory Over American
CARY, N.C. -- Campbell won four of five singles contests to end an
8-match losing streak with a 4-2 victory over American, Friday at
the Cary Tennis Center.
American won the doubles point, but the Lady Camels rallied and won
four singles matches, losing only three games combined in those
efforts.
Georgiana Marta scored a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Julia Colarusso at
number-one, while Scarlet Alfonzo lost just one game in a 6-0, 6-1
victory against Rachael Honig at the third position.
Kathleen Rollet secured a 6-1, 6-0 win at number-five, and Colin
Gore won two sets without losing a game at number-six for the Lady
Camels (3-10).
Aleksandra Zerkalova posted American's lone point in singles with a
6-1, 6-4 win at number-two over Campbell freshman Nina
Surviladze.
Campbell's Stacey Batkiewicz and American's Tessa Hollyn-Taub were
in a third-set tiebreaker when rained washed out their number-four
singles match.
