American Clips Camels 4-2
CARY,
N.C. -- American won the doubles point, then swept the third
through fifth singles matches in straight sets en route to a 4-2
victory over Campbell Friday at the Cary Tennis Center.
Campbell's top tandem of Jiri Beranek and Florent Wilpotte won
their 10th-straight doubles match, but AU's number two of Mark
Doumba and Juancarlo Vazquez won a 9-8 tiebreak over Carlos Campo
and Marc Sifre to clinch the doubles point.
Beranek
defeated Vazquez in straight sets to run his singles mark to 11-1
at number-one (17-3 overall), while Wilpotte improved to 10-2 at
number-two (19-5 on the year).
However,
Juan Jaysingh, Sebastien Proisy and Jeffrey Schnell scored
straight-sets wins and AU clinched the dual match team victory.
After
splitting the first two sets, Campbell's Ryan Mills and AU's Doumba
were unable to complete their match due to rain.
