Campbell Advances In Atlantic Sun Championship With 4-0 Victory Over Belmont

DeLAND, FLA. -- Campbell won the doubles point, then did not lose a set in singles competition while positing a 4-0 victory over Belmont Thursday in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Championship.

After defeating Belmont for the second time in a month, the seventh-seeded Lady Camels (7-13) will face second-seeded Georgia State on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Campbell's top doubles team of Georgiana Marta and Scarlet Alfonzo posted an 8-2 victory over Belmont's April Bradley and Katie Rhodes. The Camels secured the doubles point with an 8-5 win at number three where Iva Stojancev and Kathleen Rollet topped Belmont's Burgandy Moss and Shivani Oberoi 8-5.
Leading 1-0 after doubles play, the Camels locked up the dual match with straight sets victories at the third, fourth and fifth singles posts.
Freshman Nina Surviladze downed Bradley 6-3, 6-3 at number three, while Stojancev eased past Oberoi 6-1, 6-2 at number four. Rollet clipped Rhodes 6-3, 6-4 at the fifth position.
The remaining three singles matches were halted after Campbell secured the clinching dual point.
