BUIES CREEK, N.C.-After a 59-56 loss to UNC Wilmington, Campbell
women's basketball (1-2) will head to Farmville, Va. for the
Longwood Invitational, facing off against Morgan State (1-0) and
Howard (0-4).
Although CU has never met with either school, the Lady Camels hold
a 1-1 record in Farmville, having lost to Longwood last season,
56-54. Their only prior contest at LU was an 83-56 victory in
2005.
The Lady Camels will face Morgan State in their first game, meeting
the Bears in an 8 p.m. contest on Friday, Nov. 16.
Through one game in their 2007-08 schedule, the Bears edged the
University of Maryland Eastern Shore, 77-71 as MSU guard Corin
Adams recorded 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while tacking on six
rebounds.
After playing the Bears, the Lady Camels will play the early game
in the tourney, with a 1 p.m. slate against Howard on Saturday.
The Bison are led by a pair of senior guards, Shannon Carlisle and
Asha Santee, collecting a combined 24.3 points per game this
season.
Meanwhile, Campbell is led by a duo of senior forwards, with
Marlena Murphy and Maggie Rich averaging a combined 25.7 points and
11.0 rebounds per game over their first three.
Rich led the way in the Lady Camels last outing, pouring in 14
points on 5-of-9 shooting, as well as five rebounds, four assists,
two steals and a block in 37 minutes.
Lauren
Arthur, a junior guard, is averaging double-figures so far this
season with 10.7 points per game. The Alexandria, Va. native
chipped in 10 points in Wednesday's loss. After going a perfect
10-for-10 over her last two games, Arthur is shooting .929 from the
line, missing only one shot overall.
The
Lady Camels will return home next Tuesday for a 7p.m. game with
Charleston Southern in Carter Gym.
