BUIES
CREEK, N.C.After wrapping up the regular season last week,
Campbell found its name littered throughout the NCAA softball
national statistics report released Tuesday afternoon.
The
Camels (27-38-1, 8-10 A-Sun) swept Gardner-Webb last Thursday to
close out the regular season and secure the No. 5 seed in the
Atlantic Sun Tournament, which begins May 10 in DeLand, Fla.
Campbell
turned a pair of double plays in its 1-0 eight inning victory in
game two against the Bulldogs giving it 32 on the season. Not only
is the mark a school record, it is also tied with North Texas for
the most in the nation. In double plays per game, the Camels rank
eighth with a 0.48 mark.
Senior
Jessica Huffman moved into a tied for 29th all-time in
NCAA history with the 113th of her career last Thursday.
Her school record 43 on the season is tied for fourth most in the
country this season and her 0.67 clip per game ranks
13th.
Junior
southpaw Lauren Caviness is tied for 29th in the country
with three saves this season.
Riding
Huffman's outstanding season on the base paths the Camels rank
50th in the nation averaging 1.39 steals per game.
Campbell's 92 steals on the season ranks 23rd in the
country and second most in school history.
The
Camels rank 60th in the nation with a team fielding
percentage of 0.966 and are 83rd with a team ERA of 2.60
thanks to three-consecutive shutouts against Atlantic Sun
competition.
Campbell
is still waiting to find out its opponent in the first round of the
A-Sun Tournament, but there is a high possibility that it will be a
rematch with Gardner-Webb. If Stetson wins just one of its four
games this week (Jacksonville & North Florida), the Hatters
will be the No. 1 seed and will set up a Campbell If Stetson loses
all four game, Campbell and the Hatters will met in the opening
