N.C.-After taking a 74-50 victory against Coker to open the 2008-09
season and the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center, Campbell hits
the road for a contest with former Big South rival Coastal
Carolina, Monday night at 7 p.m. inside Kimbel Arena in Conway,
S.C.
The
Chanticleers are coming off a season opening win of their own,
defeating Erskine, another Conference Carolinas opponent, 65-49
inside Kimbel Arena.
Three
Chants reached double figures in the game, including freshman guard
Olivia Irick (16), junior forward Devin Rivers (12) and sophomore
forward Sydnei Moss (12). Moss and Rivers also ended the game with
double-doubles, pulling down 12 rebounds a piece.
This
is the 33rd meeting between the schools, with CU leading the
all-time series, 18-14.
Junior forward Ashley
Williamson came off the bench to lead the Lady Camels with 22
points and 18 rebounds, both career highs, powering Campbell past
Coker, 74-50 to open the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation
Center.
Geami Britt, a junior
forward, joined Williamson in double figures with 15 points on
7-of-10 shooting, adding a pair of rebounds and three assists in
her Lady Camel debut. Sophomore forward Lauren Yesh was a third CU
player in double digits with 12 points in the win. Yesh added five
rebounds in her 17 minutes of play.
Senior guard Jessica Mack,
who recorded nearly 70 steals last season, began her 2008-09
campaign with three, while totaling eight points and seven boards
with two assists. Freshman guard Amanda O'Neill finished her first
game in the Orange and Black with six points, while Whitney
Ferguson, Katelyn Bass, and Kate Cloxton, all freshmen, combined to
score 15 off the bench.
The Lady Camels will return
home for a contest with Longwood on Saturday, Nov. 22, tipping off
at 1 p.m. inside the Pope Center.
