Campbell's football team (1-10, 0-8 PFL) lost their season finale
to Morehead State (6-6, 4-4 PFL) on Saturday, Nov. 22 by a 42-7
margin at Jayne Stadium. The Camels end the season on a six-game
skid.
The Eagles marched down the field on the opening drive punched it
in from the five-yard line on the run from Jerrod Pendleton to give
MSU a 7-0 lead after the Mason Webb kick. The drive
covered 76 yards in 10 plays and melted 4:55 off the clock.
After a few Campbell defensive stops the Eagle offense scored on
the nine-yard reception from Derrick Burks off the
Jared
Phillips pass to finish off the 53-yard drive.
The Camels special teams put the CU offense in a great position
after a recovered a muffed punt at the five-yard line by Austin Tart at the
5:55 mark of the second quarter but David Hyland picked off the
Alex Munro
ensuing pass attempt and returned it a school-record 100 yards to
give MSU a 21-0 lead after the made extra point from Webb.
MSU would score one more time before the intermission on the
Nick Feldman
18-yard reception from Phillips to make the score 28-0 at the
break. The drive was set up after Feldman returned the Campbell
punt 37 yards.
After a Campbell turnover to start the half CU's Brandon Chandler
intercepted the Jordan
Ellis attempt and returned it to the MSU 38-yard line to
thwart a MSU drive early in the third.
Erick
Fitzpatrick got into the act next and rushed it in from
the three to extend the Morehead State advantage to 35-0 after the
made extra point from Webb with 8:39 left in the third quarter.
Donte
Washington thwarted another MSU drive late in the third
quarter by picking off the Ellis attempt at the five-yard line and
returning it to the Campbell 24-yard line. For Washington, who came
into the game third nationally in interceptions, it was his sixth
pick of the season.
Mike Adler
scored MSU next touchdown with a jaunt from nine-yard to increase
the margin to 42-0 after the made Webb extra point.
Campbell finally got on the board on Matt Vollono's 33-yard pass
to Paul
Constantine to make the score 42-7 with just over a minute
left (1:14).
C.J. Oates
led the Campbell offense with 51 yards rushing. Milton Brown finished the
final game of his season with 11 tackles.
