Steele Adds Paul Troth To Football Coaching Staff

BUIES CREEK, N.C.— Campbell head football coach Dale Steele has added Paul Troth to his coaching staff for the 2008 season, it was announced on July 28.

Troth, who will serve as the wide receivers coach, after most recently spending seventh months working as the offensive coordinator for the Cinneplexx Blue Devils in Hohenems, Austria. As the offensive coordinator with the Blue Devils he was responsible for the production of the entire offensive playbook and the offensive scheme.

Troth began his coaching career as the offensive graduate assistant on East Carolina's staff for two seasons (July 2006-Jan. 2008). He was directly responsible for assisting quarterback's coach and offensive coordinator, Todd Fitch. In his role at East Carolina, Troth organized and directed the defensive scout team and also contributed with the planning and operation of all summer camps.

"We are excited to have Paul join the staff at Campbell," head coach Dale Steele explained. "His outstanding knowledge of offensive football is a product of him being an outstanding player at East Carolina and Liberty. I think being a North Carolina high school player and being one of the highest recruited players in the state out of Vance High School in Charlotte when he graduated will help us in recruiting. I feel Paul can take our receiving group and make it one of the strength of our football team. He is really a good fit for Campbell and is dynamic young football coach that has a tremendous future ahead of him."

Troth was a three-year letterwinner at East Carolina, beginning in his freshman campaign as an understudy to current Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard. He took over the starting job as a true sophomore and turned in ECU's ninth-best single-season passing yard total in history after completing 177-for-359 passes for 2,315 yards and 15 touchdowns in 12 games.

After passing for 380 yards in partial duty as a junior in 2003, Troth transferred and wrapped up his college playing career at Liberty University. As a part-time starter for the Flames, Troth closed out his college career with 694 yards passing.

Troth earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism in 2005 from Liberty and recently completed his master's work in sports management for East Carolina in 2008. He is replacing former Campbell coach Lonnie Hansen who returned to the state of Texas for personal matters.

Campbell begins fall practice on August 9 with a meet and greet for the Campbell fans. The details and specifics are to follow on a later release.
