N.C. Ben Smith scored 20 points to lead four double figure
scorers as Atlantic Sun Conference leader Jacksonville defeated
Campbell 76-63 in men's basketball action Saturday at Gore Arena.

Colbert added 11 points for the Dolphins (8-8, 7-1), who won their
fifth-straight game and eighth in the last 11 outings. Marcus Allen contributed 10 points and
a game-high 15 boards for Jacksonville, which held a 49-23
rebounding advantage.
Eight of Allen's rebounds
came on the offensive end for the Dolphins, who grabbed 21 off the
attacking glass and held a 18-9 edge on second-chance
points.
Jonathan Rodriguez led
Campbell with 25 points, six rebounds and four assists. Jabril Bailey added 11 points
nine in the second half off the bench.
"First and foremost, we
played a very talented and very mature team," said Campbell head
coach Robbie Laing. "We
expended so much energy during our run that we couldn't finish the
game."
Jacksonville shot 52 percent from
the floor and hit 6-of-10 threes in the opening period to build a
40-26 half-time edge.
Campbell hit just 29 percent of its shots in the first half and
were out-rebounded 27-12 before the break.
The Dolphins led by as many
as 18 in the second half before the Camels rallied.
Rodriguez scored seven points
in an 11-2 run that cut a 12-point deficit to just three (66-63)
with 2:48 to play. However,
the Dolphins went straight to Colbert on the left blocks for a
short bank shot on the next possession.
Bailey missed a jumper; then
Allen converted on a putback after two JU offensive boards on the
next possession during the Dolphins' 10-0 game-ending
spurt.
Campbell held the Dolphins to just 32
percent shooting in the second period, while the Camels warmed up
to make 56 percent of their shots after the half. On the game, Jacksonville hit 42
percent from the floor, while Campbell finished at 41
percent.
JU made more free throws
(23-of-32) than the Camels attempted (10-of-15).
Campbell continues its two-game home
stand Monday with an 8:00 p.m. start against North
Florida.
