JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Campbell's football team (3-7, 2-5), playing
the team's first-ever game against a ranked opponent, gave the No.
22/24 Jacksonville Dolphins (10-1, 8-0 PFL) everything they could
handle in a 31-24 loss. The win allows Jacksonville to capture at
least a share of the Pioneer Football League title.
The game was still tied at 24 in the final two minutes when Rudell
Small rushed in from three-yard out to complete a seven play, 46
yard game-winning drive. The Josh Hostetler kick was good to give
JU a 31-24 victory.
Rashaun
Brown led the Campbell attack with 86 yards rushing. Mike
Stryffeler caught five passes for 59 yards a touchdown. Daniel
Polk completed 10 passes for 132 yards and ran for 49 yards.
Redshirt senior Lee
Stanley led the defensive effort with eight tackles. Small ran
for 114 yards and a touchdown for Jacksonville.
The Camels opened the game on a 14 play, 67 yard drive that ate up
8:24 of clocking time and was finished on Brown's three-yard rush.
The extra point from Adam
Willets was good to give Campbell a 7-0 advantage with 6:36
remaining in the first quarter. The rushing touchdown was the third
of the season for Brown.
JU wasted no time tying the game and did so on their first
possession when Josh McGregor connected on an 11-yard touchdown
pass to Rodney Sumter. The Dolphins opening drive covered 63 yards
on five plays and was aided by Elliot Finkley's 45-yard end around.

Redshirt junior Carl
Smith gave Campbell the lead with his three-yard plunge in the
second quarter. The drive covered eight plays, 46 yards and 3:33.
Willets made the extra point to give Campbell a 14-7 lead with
12:20 remaining in the half. The rushing touchdown was the fifth of
the season for Smith and tied his career single season high.
The game was again tied on the ensuing possession with McGregor
rushing for the four-yard score. Hostetler tied the game with the
extra point with 8:45 remaining in the quarter.
After a defensive stop from the CU defense, Campbell's offense
marched down the field and took the lead on Willets' 25-yard field
goal. The field goal ended a 13 play, 77 yard drive for Campbell
and allowed the team to take a 17-14 lead going into the half.
JU took the lead on the first play of the second half on Colby
Walden's 82-yard kick off return. Hostetler's kick was good to give
JU a 21-17 lead with 14:48 remaining in the third quarter.
Two Dolphins' drives ended with no scores in the third quarter as
JU needed to fall on a botched snap on an field goal attempt and
missed a field goal to keep the game 21-17 JU heading to the fourth
quarter.
The Camels took the lead on Polk's 18-yard touchdown pass to
redshirt senior Mike
Stryffeler. The Willets extra point was good to give Campbell a
24-21 lead with 9:17 remaining in the game. The touchdown reception
was the third of the season for Stryffeler and completed a 12 play,
80 yard drive.
JU tied the game on their next drive on Hostetler's 42-yard field
goal with 7:13 remaining in the game. The kick was a career-long
for Hostetler.
Campbell finishes up the regular season and travels to Morehead,
Ky. to take on Morehead State on Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.
