BUIES CREEK, N.C.- Florida Gulf Coast scored a pair of first-half goals and went on to defeat the Campbell women's soccer team 2-0 Saturday at the Eakes Athletic Complex.

Florida Gulf Coast jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 4^th minute. Olivia Elias played a through ball to Ashley Ciesielczyk on the left side of the field, who slid a pass to Brittany Burt in the box, and her first touch found the open net.

FGCU nearly scored again in the 30^th minute, but Elias's effort from 20 yards hit the crossbar and went out of play.

In the 44^th minute, Gina Petracco played a ball to Amanda Suchko down the left flank, and Suchko fired a left-footed shot past CU keeper Ryann Torrero into the upper left corner to double the Eagles' advantage.

Campbell (4-7-1, 1-2-0 A-Sun) threatened in the 50^th minute when Pirjo Leppikangas sent a cross into the box, but Kaili Terry's header was saved by diving FGCU keeper Stephanie Powers.

Florida Gulf Coast nearly added to its advantage with several quality chances in the second half, but Torrero made stops on 63^rd and 64^th-minute efforts from the Eagles, and Campbell cleared a 66^th-minute shot off the line.

Florida Gulf Coast (5-4-1, 2-0-1 A-Sun) outshot the Camels 13-4 and held a 7-3 advantage in attempts on target.

Powers recorded her fourth shutout of the season while making three saves in the FGCU net. Torrero made four saves for Campbell.

FGCU moves to 3-1 all-time versus Campbell.

Campbell returns to action next weekend as it travels to Nashville for a 6:30 p.m. (CDT) kick-off at Belmont on Thursday and a 7 p.m. (CDT) match Saturday at Lipscomb.
