Charleston, S.C. - Campbell's nine-match unbeaten streak came to an end on Saturday at Charleston Southern, as the Buccaneers emerged winners in a 1-0 decision. Aisleen McIlvenny scored a 20th minute goal to lead CSU past the Camels.
Campbell outshot the hosts 14-13 and held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks, but the Camels were unable to find the equalizer. Caitlin Scheneider (Southlake, Texas), Kirsty Meyer (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Ashley Clark (Cary, N.C.) all had three shots for CU, each putting two shots on goal.
Ryann Torrero (Burbank, Calif.) made seven saves for Campbell, while her counterpart Caitlin Cody posted ten saves in securing the Buccaneer shutout.
Campbell falls to 11-4-2 overall, while the first Big South defeat drops them to 5-1-2 in league play. CSU improves to 8-7-1 overall, 3-4-1 in conference play. The Camels return to the pitch on Thursday afternoon, hosting VMI at 5 p.m. Campbell will honor its seniors on Thursday during a Senior Day ceremony.
