BLACKSBURG, VA. – Virginia Tech opened the second half on a 15-0 run to break open a close game and went on to defeat Campbell 85-60 Saturday at Cassell Coliseum.

Leading by just three (32-29) at the break, the Hokies hit six of their first seven shots in the final period and converted four Campbell turnovers into 9 points in the decisive burst.  Tech (8-3) made 19-of-26 shots in the final stanza (.731) and dealt the Camels (8-3) their second-straight loss.

Victor Davila and Dorenzo Hudson led five Hokies in double figures with 15 points each.  Erick Green added 12 points and 6 assists, while Jarell Eddie chipped in 11 points and a game-high 8 boards.  Dorian Finney-Smith scored 10.

Trey Freeman led Campbell with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting.  Eric Griffin had 15, plus 6 rebounds, while Darren White tallied 14 on 6-of-9 shooting.

Tech held Campbell to its lowest-scoring total of the season.  CU hit 46.4 percent (26-59) of its shots, just 1-of-12 from 3-point range and only 7-of-14 from the line.

The Hokies finished the game shooting 54.7 percent (29-53) from the floor, 5-of-12 from long range and made 22-of-27 (.815) from the line.  Tech converted 15 Campbell miscues into a 23-12 edge in points off turnovers.

The Hokies jumped to an 11-5 lead, but Campbell responded with an 11-2 rally, capped by White's jumper than gave CU a 16-14 edge with 12:00 remaining. White scored 7 of his 12 first-half points during the burst.

Green scored 10 points in the opening period, including 6-of-6 from the line.

Campbell dropped to 1-29 all-time against current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference and has last its last 12 contests against ACC schools.

The Camels continue their road trip Monday at UNC Wilmington (7:00).
