Football Adds Two Transfers To Spring Roster

BUIES CREEK, N.C.- The Campbell football program announced that it has added a pair of mid-semester transfers from Football Championship Series scholarship programs to the 2011 spring roster. Joining the team this semester is freshman running back Alonzo Hedgspeth and freshman wide receiver Jabri Ridenhour.

Hedgspeth comes to Campbell from Georgia Southern via Southern Durham High School. The 5-11, 240 pound Hedgspeth began his high school career playing for Orange High School, where he was a varsity starter and the team's leading rusher as a freshman. As sophomore, while still playing for Orange, he ran for over 1,000 yards and was honorable mention all-conference. Hedgspeth then transferred to Southern Durham High School for his final two seasons. He aided the team to a pair of PAC-6 Championships in his final two seasons. As a junior he was an honorable mention all-conference and led the team in touchdowns. He was an all-conference and honorable mention all-area selection plus aided his team to a 12-2 record and the number one playoff seed as a senior. Following his senior year he was a Shrine Bowl nominee. Hedgspeth also played two years of basketball and competed in track for four years in high school. He is only child of Jo Ann and Alonzo Hedgspeth, Sr.

Ridenhour arrives at Campbell after attending Presbyterian College last fall. Ridenhour went to high school at Western Guilford where he was a three-year football all-conference selection. The freshman also was named all-region and all-academic as a senior. Ridenhour ended his senior season with 78 catches for 1,303 yards and eight touchdowns. He finished his career with 173 catches for 2,740 yards and 15 touchdowns. Ridenhour also lettered in and was all-conference in track and played basketball in high school. He did not see the field at Presbyterian last season. He is the only son of Alana and James Ridenhour.

Prep: Played varsity football for four years at two different high schools...played his first two years at Orange High and final seasons at Southern Durham...in his two years at Orange he was on the varsity for both years and led the team in rushing plus was an honorable mention all-conference selection...at Southern Durham he was honorable mention all-conference as junior and all-conference as a senior when he was also a Shrine Bowl nominee...also participated in basketball and track.

Prep: A three-year football letterwinner at Western Guilford...aided his team to the playoffs his final three seasons...named team MVP as a freshman...two-time all-area selection...twice named to the all-conference team...totaled 31 catches for 416 yards and a touchdown as a sophomore...tallied 64 catches for 1,021 yards and seven scores as a junior...posted 78 receptions for 1,303 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior...also lettered in track & field and basketball.
