Post Game Quotes

Campbell Head Coach Dale Steele
"I want to start off by saying that I'm extremely disappointed for all the alumni and people that came back for our homecoming tonight. Homecoming at Campbell has become a big event and I'm very disappointed for them. I'm also disappointed for those guys back in that locker room. They just refused to give up They hung in there and faced some adversity tonight. They didn't give up; they kept playing and put themselves in a position at the end of the football game to maybe have a chance to win the football game. I'm extremely proud of them. They were very unselfish. A lot of them made sacrifices in terms of position changes. Brandon Chandler and Kurt Odom were both very unselfish in their contributions tonight I was very proud of the effort that Dakota Wolf gave. We got beat up on the offensive line and had to put some people in there, and they hung in there and refused to quit. Time ran out on them tonight. They didn't lose the game, but time ran out on them. I don't know whether that makes any sense or not, but that's what happened."

Steele on Brandon Chandler at RB:
"We made a decision on Tuesday that we didn't have enough weapons. We've been continually hurt at wide receiver this year. You can't play just one tailback with as much as we run the football; you know 40 or 50 snaps. We've always been a three back unit, and we just didn't have anyone that had the punch we were looking for. Defensively, we felt like we could replace him with someone who can come in and go a good job. So we moved Jeff Swinton into Brandon's place, and started working with Brandon on Monday. From Tuesday to today, he made a lot of progress, we even left him in there on some pass plays tonight, and he embraced it. We were also able to play Brandon and Kurt Odom some to give us a different dimension and take pressure off of Dakota Wolf from being our only weapon."

Junior QB Dakota Wolf:
"We put a few plays together and I think we got our confidence going. I think that's the biggest thing for our team right now. We've struggled a lot lately. I think our confidence is a little low. I think once we started moving the ball we got really confident. We felt we could really move the ball on this team. Having Brandon [Chandler] come and play running back for us, that was big for us. He gave us a spark this week. He had a big game for us. I just think the biggest thing is confidence for the offensive unit as a whole."

"(Chandler) is still getting acclimated to the offense. It's the first week he's been in it, so he may not know everything he's doing on every play, but we work with him. He's a big guy, he runs really hard. Defenders don't like going up to tackle him."

"The coaches have been giving us great looks, especially offensively for what we'll be seeing. I think we just need to take this momentum that we had in the second half of this game, take it over to the next game, and not put the defense in such a hole. They played great, they played their hardest. We've just got to get started a little sooner."

RS-sophomore DL Lucas Smith
"We came into the game with certain schemes in our game plan that we tried to use in the first half. It just wasn't working the way we thought they were going to, so we just went back to the basics and relied on our defensive end speed and tackle speed, and it ended up working pretty good for us."

"The coaches just reminded us we had to get the ball back. That's our job. The offense will score. We just have to get the ball back. We had a lot of long drives, but fortunately we've also had a lot of red zone stops."

"This week we've had a really good week of practice. We just have to turn this last little bit of momentum we had into this week of practice and build on it."
