Lutz, Dillon Earn Second Team All-PFL Honors

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell sophomore punter Adam Lutz and freshman fullback Dalton Dillon have both been named Second Team All-Pioneer Football League. All selections to the league's 20th annual all-conference squads were made by the PFL's coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Isaac Scott, as well as senior defensive backs Paul Pizzuti and Steth Monroe also earned Honorable Mention All-PFL recognition.

Lutz posted a 40.4 per kick average this season, also handling the Camels' kickoff duties. The Waxhaw, N.C. native's punt average rated second in the PFL, just behind Valparaiso's Greg Wood at 40.9. Lutz also registered the league's second best yardage at 2,705 and number of punts with 67.

Lutz's long punt of 68 yards was the best in the PFL this season. The sophomore finished the year with 17 punts inside the 20, one shy of the school record. He forced 13 fair catches and booted 50+ yard punts 10 times on the year. Lutz, the Camels' first all-league punter in school history, was also named to the PFL's second team all-conference list by College Sports Madness.

Dillon ranked third on the team in rushing this season with 146 yards, collecting a touchdown to go along with a season-best 44 yards on the ground at Morehead State. The Colfax, N.C. native added four special teams tackles on the year.

The rookie helped Campbell rank fifth in the PFL in rushing in 2012 at 149.3 yards per game. Dillon is the second Camel freshman to earn all-conference honors in modern program history, following linebacker Milton Brown, who was named First Team All-PFL as a rookie in 2008.

Scott, a redshirt sophomore, was the PFL's co-leader in fumbles forced this season with three, adding 60 total tackles, ranking the defensive lineman 38th overall and second at his position among conference leaders. Scott added 12.0 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks on the season, both ranking second in the Campbell single-season record books and fifth in the PFL this year.

The Columbia, S.C. native was twice earned honorable mention nods from the CFPA for National Defensive Lineman of the Week. On Oct. 21, Scott was named the Pioneer Football League's Defensive Player of the Week after setting school single-game records for sacks (3.0) and tackles for loss (3.5) against Davidson. Scott also forced and recovered a fumble while recording eight tackles and a quarterback hurry. He joined Lutz on the College Sports Madness All-PFL team.

Pizzuti finished his senior campaign with 89 tackles, breaking the school single-season record. The defensive back also tied a Campbell single-game record with 14 tackles at Morehead State, and collected three double figure tackle games on the year. Pizzuti also posted 12 at Butler and 11 against Drake. Pizzuti's 14 stops knotted Lee Stanley's school record performance in a win at UVa.-Wise on Sept. 4, 2010.

Pizzuti added five pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery on the year. He ranked ninth overall and second among league defensive backs in tackles.

Monroe, a four year fixture at defensive back for the Fighting Camels from 2009-12, started 33 of 42 career games played, posting a career-high 64 tackles in 2012. Monroe five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and an interception as a senior. The honorable mention nod is the second for Monroe, who was also recognized as a junior in 2011.

The 6-foot-1 Waxhaw, N.C. native was named to the PFL's 2012 Preseason All-Conference team, as well as the College Football Performance Awards Defensive Back Watch List prior to his senior campaign. Monroe finishes his collegiate career with 169 total tackles, 24 passes defended, six interceptions and four forced fumbles.

Campbell has collected 14 All-PFL selections in five seasons of competition, including four first and 10 second team honors. 22 Camels have earned honorable mention status.

Nine of the league's 10 members had at least one first team All-PFL selection. Butler and San Diego had six first team selections each while five members, including Drake – the third co-champion, had three each.

San Diego had 12 total members named to the league's two squads. Drake had 10 selections and Jacksonville had nine.

The PFL All-Academic teams will be released tomorrow, Dec. 12. Campbell and the PFL will release its 2012 schedule on Dec. 17.
