INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Matt Lancaster combined for two scores while Trae Heeter ran for another pair to lead Bulter past visiting Campbell 35-14 Saturday in Pioneer Football League play at the Butler Bowl.
Butler moves to 5-2 on the season and 3-0 in PFL play with the win, while Campbell dips to 1-5 and 0-3.
Lancaster passed for 231 yards and a touchdown, all in the first half, on 13-of-19 passing, also running for 81 yards and another score, while Heeter posted 134 yards on the ground and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
Brendan Shannon hauled in 166 yards receiving on 10 catches, with Tom Judge and Zach Wolfe adding touchdown receptions.
Paul Yanow paced the BU defense with 11 stops, with Jeremy Stephens posting eight tackles, including one of the Bulldogs' four sacks.
The Bulldogs raced out to a 28-0 halftime lead behind Lancaster's 231 yards passing. The senior quarterback found Shannon for 135 first half yards, while Wolfe hauled in a 36-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, Butler's first score of the afternoon.
Lancaster added a rushing touchdown in the first half, while Heeter punched in two.
Campbell answered back with a pair of touchdowns, with DeShawn Jones putting Campbell on the board with his 45 yard touchdown run up the middle.
Jordan Hildreth's 44 yard punt return for a touchdown to start the fourth quarter made it 28-14 Bulldogs, but Butler tacked on another score on Judge's catch at the 8:33 mark to make it 35-14.
Kurt Odom led Campbell with 71 rushing yards on 10 carries, while Jones gathered 68 on just six attempts with a touchdown. Hudson passed for 93 yards on 10-of-22 passing with an interception.
Ben Bolling and Hildreth combined for 73 yards receiving on seven catches.
Ugonna Awuruonye topped the Campbell defense with nine tackles, including four for loss and a sack, also recovering a fumble. The redshirt sophomore's four stops for loss sets a new CU single game record. Michael Rudisill also posted eight stops for the Camels, while Matt Farris added four with a forced fumble and a tackle for loss.
Butler outgained the Camels 494 to 277 in total yards on the afternoon. The Camels rushed for 184 yards in the game, the team's fifth with 150 or more this season.
The Camels return home next weekend, hosting Jacksonville at 1 p.m. at Barker-Lane Stadium.
