CHARLESTON, S.C. – Roslyn Presley scored 24 points, while Amanda Coffer added a career-high 16 points, to lead Campbell past Charleston Southern 72-71 Saturday in the Lady Camels' second-straight one-point victory.
The Lady Camels (16-9, 11-5) defeated the Bucs (8-17, 4-12) to take the 27-2 advantage in the all-time series, avenging an 81-71 loss to CSU on Jan. 9.
Presley finished with her second consecutive double-double, adding 11 rebounds to her 24 points, 15 of which came in the second half.
In addition to her 16 points, Coffer earned career highs with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Kiera Gaines also notched her ninth season double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
For Charleston Southern, Anicia Dotson and DJ Fowler each had 19 points, while Dotson added 10 boards for the third double-double of the game.
With 1:25 to go in the game, CSU led 69-66. Presley hit a jumper off a RaeChaun Edwards assist to bring the Lady Camels within one.
After the Buc miss by Erin Bratcher on the other end, Presley stormed down the court and nailed another jumper to put CU up by one, 70-69, with 57 seconds to go.
At the 43-second mark, Gaines hit the back end of a pair of free throws, as Campbell went up by two before Tatum Jarvis drove down the lane and scored to tie the game for the 14th time.
Coming out of the CSU timeout, Monique Maximilien fouled Coffer with 10 seconds to go. The freshman knocked down only the first to give the Lady Camels the 72-71 edge.
The Bucs rushed down the court and attempted two shots, but converted on neither, as CU secured its 11th league win of the season.
In a back-and-forth game, the largest lead for either side was seven points for the Bucs with 17:18 to go in the first half.
The Bucs opened up each half on a tear, with a seven-point streak in the first three minutes and a 10-0 run in the first 2:59 after the break.
Each time, Campbell was able to tie the score within 3 and a half minutes to stay within reach of the win.
The Lady Camels, up 31-27 at intermission, were 11-for-36 from the field in the first half, going 2-for-10 from beyond the arc. CU had the 29-22 rebounding advantage, including 13 offensive boards. Coffer tallied three of CU's five blocks before intermission.
After starting the second half 0-for-5 from the floor with two turnovers, CU finished the half shooting 15-for-32, a 46.9 pct. clip.
Although Charleston Southern (43.1) had the advantage over Campbell (38.2) on field goal percentage, the Lady Camels went 16-for-24 (66.7pct.) from the free throw line, as opposed to the Bucs' 47.1 pct. on 8-for-17 shooting.
Campbell out-rebounded CSU 52-37, including 20 offensive boards, doubling the Bucs' 10.
The Lady Camels return to Gore Arena next week in their final homestand of the season. Thursday, Campbell hosts Presbyterian at 7 p.m. and Saturday, CU will honor its seniors before a tip with Gardner-Webb at 1 p.m.
