WASHINGTON, D.C. – Loren Day netted four goals and Brittany Kincer registered 13 saves Sunday as American University edged Campbell 11-9 at Georgetown's Multi-Sport Field. The Camels (0-2) were efficient offensively, as nine of 12 shots they took were on-goal, each getting past American's (1-1) keeper Jackie Ferri.

Five different Camels scored in the contest. In addition to Day, Erica Hitch notched two goals, while Hayley Carroll, Cloey Henchcliffe, and Grace Boyce each added one.

In the net, Kincer stopped 13 of 24 shots, for a .542 save percentage.

"I am really happy with the way the girls played," head coach Dawn Easley said. "They hustled entire game and listened to everything coaching staff said. They did a great job executing the game plan and I'm really happy for the future of the season."

Campbell started out the game on a three-goal tear, as Boyce, Carroll, and Day each netted one in the opening ten minutes.

American answered with six-straight, with Jessica Wojciechowski and Alex Lugovina each putting in two, to end the half 6-3 in favor of the Eagles.

Lugovina earned her third goal four minutes into the second half to give American the four-goal advantage.

The Camels and the Eagles then traded goals, making the score 8-5 with 22:58 to go.

Campbell went on another three-goal burst, with Hitch, Henchcliffe, and Day notching one each to draw within one of the Eagles, 8-7 with 15:30 remaining.

The teams continued to trade goals, as Campbell's final score came on Day's fourth goal with 3:53 left in the game with American leading 11-9. Campbell couldn't find the net in the remaining minutes, taking the two-goal loss.

Henchcliffe led CU with three draw controls and six different Camels picked up ground balls. 

American had the edge in ground balls (12-6), draw controls (14-9), and shots (39-12).

Campbell has a two-week break before it hits the road again for a 1 p.m. game at Kennesaw State on March 1.
