BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell head coach Mike Minter announced the Camels 16-man 2015 football recruiting class Wednesday, his third with the program.

"Our coaching staff did a great job of identifying our needs as a football team, and zeroing in on those guys," said Minter. "Will Phillippi, our recruiting coordinator, did a great job of putting this class together. When evaluating a player, we don't just look on the field and in the classroom, but also the character and mental makeup. We want Campbell guys, and that's what we have."

The 16-man class contains eight defensive and seven offensive players, as well as one special teamer.

Three defensive linemen, two linebackers, two cornerbacks, and a safety on the defensive side, four offensive linemen, two quarterbacks and a wide receiver on offense, plus a punter round out the Camels' 2015 class.

Seven in the group are from North Carolina and nine hail from out of state, including two from Georgia and Tennessee, and one apiece from Alabama, Florida, Maryland, South Carolina and Virginia.

Campbell finished the 2014 season, the second under head coach Mike Minter, 5-7 overall and 4-4 in PFL play, recording the program's second-most total and conference wins in its seven seasons. A school record seven Camels, plus eight honorable mentions, were named to the 2014 All-PFL teams, including four first teamers. Eight CU student-athletes, with six first team members, were tabbed PFL All-Academic.

Campbell announced its 2015 schedule in January, featuring six home games, including a Thursday night opener.
