CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – Campbell senior Amon Terer was named Regional Athlete of the Year after taking first place in the 2016 NCAA Southeast Regional Championships Friday afternoon at Panorama Farms. Terer made his mark in the Campbell record books, setting a 10K school record with a mark of 28:48.7 and becoming the first regional individual champion in school history.

Right alongside Terer was sophomore Lawrence Kipkoech, finishing just behind Terer as he completed the course in 28:48.8 to place second and earn all-region honors for the second-straight season. Sophomore Kelvin Kirui and junior Jacob Kipserem came in next for the Fighting Camels, finishing less than a second apart to come in 68th and 69th place, respectively. Meshack Kipruto rounded out the top-five for the Campbell men, finishing 89th as he completed the 10K in 31:30.0.

The meet began with the women's 6K, with junior Joan Maritim representing the Campbell women as she competed individually. Finishing 16th overall, Maritim earned all-region honors for the first time in her career. She completed the course in 20:53.8 for her second-fastest 6K time this season.

Finishing first and second overall in the regional, Terer and Kipkoech each receive automatic bids to the NCAA National Championships, set for Saturday, Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
