ELON, N.C. – The Campbell University cross country teams opened the 2025 season with a strong showing at the Elon XC Opener on Friday night, Aug. 29, at Elon's cross country course. All 23 Campbell athletes who competed either made their Campbell debuts, set personal bests, or achieved both.
In the women's 4K, Campbell finished sixth overall with 145 points, tying High Point but falling to the Panthers on a tiebreaker. Four Camel runners placed inside the top 50, led by junior
Emily Pierce, who finished seventh.
The men's squad placed eighth in the 6K with 161 points, again tying with UNCW but dropping on the tiebreaker. Four Campbell men also finished in the top 50, highlighted by freshman
Isaiah Martine's 11th-place finish.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Emily Pierce paced the Camels with a top-10 finish, running a personal-best 14:01.9. Freshman
Delaney Horton impressed in her collegiate debut, crossing in 14:32.5 as Campbell's second finisher. She was one of five freshmen making their first collegiate appearances.
MEN'S RECAP
Isaiah Martine set the tone for the men in his debut, clocking 18:45.1 to place 11th.
Craig Costa and
Andrew Barrett were next across the line for the Camels, each setting personal bests in the 6K. Martine was one of four freshmen to make their debuts for Campbell.

The Camels return to action Sept. 19 at the adidas XC Challenge in Raleigh, hosted by NC State.
