BALTIMORE, MD. – Tiwian Kendley scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Morgan State to an 82-66 win over Campbell Saturday at Hill Field House.

Phillip Carr added 21 points and nine boards for the Bears (2-2), who led by 11 at the break and shot 58 percent from the field in the final period.  Kyle Thomas added 11 points, plus eight boards off the bench.

Chris Clemons scored 19 of his 21 points in the final period to lead Campbell (1-2). Shane Whitfield added a career-high 17 points and seven rebounds for the Camels.

The Camels cut the Bear lead to as little as eight points in the second half – the last with 16:16 to play on Marcus Burk's pull-up jumper that trimmed the gap to 41-33 – but could draw no closer.

Sparked by 11 first-half points from Kendley and Thomas, Morgan State led 37-26 at halftime.  The Camels made only 1-of-10 first-half 3-point shots and the Big South's leading scorer, Clemons had only two points on 1-of-7 shooting.

An early 12-2 flurry that extended to a 27-7 run gave the hosts a double-figure lead midway through the first half.  Phillip Carr's bucket stretched Morgan State's lead to 29-13 with 7:40 remaining.   Consecutive dunks from Mogga Lado and Whitfield's free throws trimmed the gap to 11 at intermission.

Campbell finished the game shooting 40 percent from the floor, while making 7-of-25 threes (.280) and 7-of-14 from the line (.500).  Morgan State hit 22-of-28 free throws (.786), 43 percent of its shots overall (28-65) and 4-of-10 from long range.   The Bears finished with a 47-36 edge on the boards and had a 16-4 advantage in second-chance points.

The Camels return home to host Samford Monday in a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
