CARY, N.C. – Five members of the Campbell cross country women's team set new personal records as the team finished third in the Three-Stripe Invitational Saturday morning at the WakeMed Soccer Park. The Camels were led by Big South All-Conference honoree Lize Botha, who completed the 5K course in 19:05.78 to place 16th individually, beating her personal 5K record by 17 seconds.
"The girls had a great day today," said head coach Michael Kelly. "I was excited to see them finish the cross country season with so many PR's. I'm looking forward to seeing this group progress even more during the upcoming track seasons."
In addition to Botha, sophomore Ali Bowen and freshmen Madeline Fitch, Aimee Fish and Jade Baldwin set personal records at the meet. Bowen finished 24th with a mark of 19:40.34, while Fitch ran a 19:41.98 to finish 25th. Fish and Baldwin shattered their personal records, each beating their previous best 5K times by more than 40 seconds as they placed 26th and 31st, respectively.
Sophomore Roshae Jackson was the second finisher on the day for CU, crossing the line in 19:28.43 to finish 21st overall. Classmate Heidi Tuskiewicz finished 29th in the meet with a mark of 19:54.50.
