BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Brian Taylor doubled twice and drove in four, but Minnesota claimed a 7-5 game three win over Campbell Sunday, taking the weekend series.

Minnesota moved to 5-2 with the win, while Campbell dropped to 3-4 overall. Campbell took Friday's series opener 11-7 before the Gophers claimed game two of the set 3-1.

Taylor cleared the bases with a three-run double in the bottom of the first, giving Campbell a 3-2 lead. With two out and a man on in the eighth, the redshirt senior doubled again, bringing home his fourth run of the game to bring the Camels within 7-4

Anthony Lopez went 3-for-5 in the loss, scoring on Taylor's double in the first, and registering a double in the second.

Campbell held a 3-2 lead until Micah Coffey's opposite field leadoff homer in the top of the fourth. Three batters later, Connor Schaefbauer's RBI single gave the Gophers the 4-3 lead.

Tyler Hanson (1-0) picked up the win, going six innings with three runs on four hits, four strikeouts and a walk. Ty McDevitt allowed two runs, one earned, on a hit in an inning of relief, while Jordan Jess collected the save (1), working two innings with a hit, two strikeouts and two walks.

Campbell starter Chase Johnson (0-2) took the loss, going three innings with four runs on six hits and a strikeout. Michael Horrell and Erik Dowse combined for four scoreless innings in relief, while Cole Hallum allowed three runs in the eighth, fanning one. Tyson Messer tossed worked around a leadoff walk in a scoreless ninth.

After a three-run top of the eighth gave Minnesota a 7-3 lead, Campbell chipped away with Taylor's double and a Drew Butler RBI groundout, but a strikeout ended the rally, stranding runners on the corners.

Terrin Vavra, Austin Athmann, Matt Stemper and Riley Smith all collected two hits apiece for the Gophers, while Eddie Estrada drove in two.

Campbell hosts Duke on Wednesday, March 2, welcoming Canisius in a three game series over the weekend, March 4-6. For tickets to all Campbell home games, please visit GoCamels.com.
