BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Jonathan O'Neal won both his singles and doubles matches as the Camels fall 5-2 in conference play to the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers improved to 15-3, 5-0 while the Camels drop to 6-11, 2-4 on the campaign.
Campbell got the hot start winning two of the three doubles matches to clinch the first point of the game. Nicolas Rakitin and Gerard Sola finished first with a 6-1 win over Jabor Al-Mutawa and Sebastian Schneider on court two. Jonathan O'Neal and Lorenz Schwab followed on court one defeating Pedro Leme and Vuk Velickovic 6-3 to clinch the point for the Camels.
Sets seemed to be going the Camels way as O'Neal defeated Nic Planchard 6-2, 6-3 as the first singles match to finish up. After O'Neal's win, the match went in favor of the Chanticleers who won out the remaining singles to come back from a 0-2 deficit to win 5-2.
Sola and Rakitin were the next in order to finish as they fell in straight sets. Dustin Werner, Schwab and Lukas Schaefer all pushed three sets on courts six, three and one respectively. Werner fell to Luiz Faria 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 while Schwab dropped 6-2, 7-6 (9-7), 2-6 to Leme and Schaefer was outlasted by Velickovic 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
The Camels return to action as they travel to Radford, Va. for a Big South match. Campbell and Radford will face off at 11 a.m. on the courts at the Radford University Tennis Complex.
