BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Matt Parrish drove in four on a 4-for-5 day with two doubles, leading Campbell to a 12-4 win Sunday at Jim Perry Stadium, claiming its weekend series over Canisius.
Campbell (6-5) bounced back from a 7-4 loss Saturday to top the Griffins (3-8). The Camels topped Friday's opener 7-2.
After Parrish's two run single in the bottom of the fourth tied it up at 3-all, the senior doubled in the sixth and seventh, knocking in two more runs with his second two-bagger, extending the Campbell lead to 10-4.
Parrish's two run double was part of a nine run outburst for the Camels over their last three at-bats. CU plated three in the sixth with RBI from Kyle Prats and Drew Butler. Butler knocked in another in a four run seventh. Anthony Lopez and Zach Minnick added two more runs for Campbell in the bottom of the eighth to make it 12-4.
Michael Horrell (1-1) picked up the win, going six innings with four runs, three earned, on six hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Erik Dowse earned the save, going three scoreless innings with two hits, three strikeouts and three walks.
J.P. Stevenson (0-3) took the loss for the Griffins, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits with eight strikeouts and a walk in five innings.
Campbell's six through eight hitters combined to go 9-for-11 with eight RBI and five runs scored in the win.
Minnick, batting sixth in the order, went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs, while Butler went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs. Parrish added his 4-for-5 effort with four RBI.
Tim Kensinger paced Canisius at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a run.
