BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Junior Snow knocked in four and Nick Thayer went the distance to lead Campbell in a 10-4 win over visiting Gardner-Webb in its Big South home opener Friday at Jim Perry Stadium.

Campbell (17-15, 4-3 Big South) piled up a season-high 16 hits to top the Runnin' Bulldogs (22-11, 2-5 Big South) in the series opener.

Snow, a freshman from King, N.C., went 4-for-5 with four RBI in the win. The rookie picked up a RBI double in the first, part of a five run Campbell frame, adding a two run single in the fourth and another RBI single in the sixth.

Snow's first inning double was one of six hits for the Camels in their first turn, batting around in the opening stanza.

Thayer (5-3) worked his first complete game of the season and third of his Campbell career, allowing four runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks in the win.

Andrew Massey (3-3) took the loss for GWU, allowing five runs on six hits with a strikeout and a walk in an inning.

After Campbell posted its five run first, the Bulldogs responded with two in the second. Collin Thacker and Danny Sullivan led off the inning with base hits, scoring on Jacob Walker's RBI groundout and Mason Fox's two out base hit.

The Camels took a 7-2 lead in the fourth on Snow's two run single, and pushed the lead to 10-4 on an Anthony Lopez single and a Parrish bases loaded walk in the eighth following a pinch hit solo homer from Chandler Redmond in the top of the seventh.

Thayer retired his final seven batters to close out the win for the Camels.

Lopez went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run for the Camels, while Parrish drove in two and scored twice, going 2-for-3 with two walks. Ben Calvano and Adam Wyse also scored twice for CU.

Sullivan was 2-for-4 with a triple for the Bulldogs, scoring two runs.

The series continues Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
