BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Tim Mansfield went 4-for-5 with a RBI and two runs, pacing High Point in an 11-1 win over Campbell Sunday at Jim Perry Stadium.
High Point moved to 30-20 on the season and 13-8 in conference games, while Campbell dipped to 26-24 overall and 13-8 in Big South play. Campbell claimed games one and two of the series with a pair of 4-3 wins. The Camels own series wins in six of their seven Big South weekends.
Campbell honored its seven departing seniors, Anthony Lopez, Matt Parrish, Kyle Prats, Brian Taylor, Nick Thayer, Chris Walkerow and Grant Yost prior to Sunday's game.
Chris Clare was also 3-for-5 for High Point, which collected 13 hits on the day, adding two RBI and two runs scores. Carson Jackson also scored three times for the Panthers.
Matt Parrish led Campbell at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the second, his third of the season.
Andrew Gottfried (6-4) picked up the win for the Panthers, going seven innings with a run on five hits. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. Tyler Britton pitched the final two innings, allowing a hit.
Michael Horrell (5-5) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs, three earned, on five hits with a strikeout and a walk in 3 1/3.
Wes Noble pitched 4 2/3 with four runs, three earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Chris Walkerow tossed the final frame, allowing two runs on a hit with two strikeouts and three walks.
Campbell will hit the road for the final week of the 2016 season, traveling to East Carolina on Tuesday, May 17, before closing the year with a three game Big South set at Coastal Carolina, May 19-21.
