JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Campbell secured its first victory of the season with a 1-0 victory over Jacksonville Sunday evening.
 
Alemu Mercer-Miko's goal in the 35th minute, the first of his career, proved to be the game-winner for the Camels.
 
Liam O'Connor was unable to collect Josh Hughes' low shot from 18 yards away and the rebound bounced free in the box. Mercer-Miko buried the loose ball into the far corner to give Campbell the lead.
 
"We were very pleased with the committed team effort tonight," said head coach Dustin Fonder. "To play two games away from home to open the season is a difficult task, but I feel good that we were able to get a win under our belt on the trip."
 
Campbell's offense made the most of its opportunities in the match as six of the seven shots were on frame.
 
The Orange and Black held strong on defensive side of the ball, blocking eight shots in the contest. Matthew Mozynski made seven saves en route to his first shutout of the season.
 
"Jacksonville's strong possession forced our guys to work as a collective unit and defend," stated Fonder. "The backline and Matt Mozynski did an exceptionally good job tonight."

Gabe Parrish and Mercer-Miko were named to the Mike Gibs Memorial All-Tournament team for their performances during the weekend's matches.
 
Campbell returns to action Thursday in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Navy.
