HAMPTON, VA. – Old Dominion and No. 10 Virginia Tech both topped Campbell to open competition at the 2018 Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum.
ODU held off a late Campbell push to edge the Camels 22-18, while the Hokies handed CU its first shutout loss since 2015 (46-0 vs. Chattanooga), 40-0.
The Monarchs built a 16-3 lead through five bouts after Larry Early's major decision over
Austin Kraisser, 15-5. Campbell clawed back with victories in four of the final five matchups, beginning with a
Quentin Perez fall (3:58) at 165 pounds to defeat Luke Drugac.
Andrew Morgan (174),
Chris Kober (197) and
Jere Heino (285) also picked up decisions, but ODU held on for the 22-18 win.
VT swept Campbell in match two of the day, with five Hokies earning bonus points in the win, including two falls.
