Spartanburg, S.C. - Campbell posted a perfect slate in singles and doubles action as they defeated USC Upstate, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
Lou Regen and
Lea Cutura claimed their first doubles win of the season with a 6-1 victory over Gabriela Cevallos and Morgan Dodd to open doubles play.
Alexandra Andrivot and
Isabel Boada improved to a perfect 4-0 on the season with a 6-3 win over Carol Sigaki and Vale Zarama to clinch the doubles point for Campbell (3-5).
Ana Castillo and
Georgina Segarra completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory over Noelia Acuna and Taylor Dodd to improve to a 5-2 mark for the 2017-18 campaign.
Ana Castillo claimed the match clinching set with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Acuna to improve to 3-4 on the year. Castillo's win came after a 6-0, 6-1 win for
Pauline Roustan over Morgan Dodd 6-0, 6-1 and
Lou Regen's 6-1, 6-2 decision over Zarama. Regen's win pushed her to a team best 4-3 record.
Three other Camels notched wins over the Spartans (0-5). Andrivot secured a 7-5, 6-3 win over Sigaki to improve to a 2-5 mark while
Georgina Segarra evened her record at 3-3 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Taylor Dodd.
Boada was featured in the only match of the day to split sets but claimed the final win of the day with a 15-13 tie breaking win, to notch her first victory of the season, after winning the first set 6-0 and dropping the second set 3-6.
Sunday's win marked the team's second win in a row after defeating Coastal Carolina, 4-3, on February 14.
Campbell returns to action Wednesday. February 21 at home against North Carolina Central. Both teams faced each other multiple times during the fall season including action at the NCCU Invitation hosted by Central October 19-20.
