BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Coming off an inspired performance Wednesday, Campbell (13-12, 7-6) hosts Longwood (6-20, 3-10) Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Gore Arena.
Chris Clemons led four Camels in double figures with 33 points in a 78-70 win at Gardner-Webb that moved Campbell into a three-way tie for fourth place in the Big South standings with High Point and GWU.
Jordan and
Shane Whitfield scored 12 points each, while
Marcus Burk added 11 for CU, which rode a late 11-0 run to snap a 3-game slide.
UNC Asheville (10-3), Winthrop (9-4) and Radford (8-5) hold the top 3 places in the league standings, while Liberty (6-7) is one game out of the 4th-place deadlock.
The Camels are looking for a regular season split with Longwood, which has dropped 7-straight since a 76-62 win over Campbell Jan. 15 at Farmville, Va.
Isaiah Walton (27) and B.K. Ashe (25) combined for 52 points to lead the Lancers.
Chris Clemons tallied 28 points and
Andrew Eudy 13 for the Camels.
Late in the second half of Campbell's win Wednesday at Gardner-Webb,
Chris Clemons became the first junior in Big South Conference history to reach the 2,000 career point mark. He is just the second player in Campbell basketball history to score 2,000 career points and only the 11th in the Big South record books. The nation's 5th-leading scorer, Clemons has tallied 2,006 points in 88 career games.

Jordan Whitfield came off the Camel bench to score a career-high 12 points on four 3-pointers, while his older brother Shane added 12, plus five assists.
Marcus Burk added 11 points for Campbell, which ended a three-game losing streak and dealt Gardner-Webb its first home loss of the season. D.J. Laster topped GWU with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Longwood - Big South leader UNC Asheville overcame a 14-point deficit in the second half and went on to defeat the Lancers 78-73 Wednesday at Farmville. Longwood opened the second half on a 14-2 run and led 52-38 with 15:58 remaining. However, the Bulldogs answered with a 15-3 rally and shot 70 percent from the floor (14-20) in the second half en route to their sixth-straight victory. MaCio Teague led Asheville with 20 points, while Jonathan Baehre and Raekwon Miller hit career highs with 11 each. Damarion Geter scored a career-best 19 points for Longwood, which lost its seventh in a row.
CAMPBELL-LONGWOOD NOTES
- Longwood owns the Big South's top defense beyond the arc, limiting opponents to just 31.4% shooting from 3-point range. Campbell is 2nd in the league, allowing foes to shoot just 32.7% from long distance.
- Campbell stands 9-4 at home this year, 4-2 against Big South Conference foes. CU has won 7 of its last 9 at Gore Arena, most recently suffering a 64-57 loss Feb. 1 to UNC Asheville. Longwood is 1-10 away from home this year, 1-5 at Big South members. LWU's only victory away from Willett Hall in '17-18 came Jan. 12 at Liberty (58-51). Since then, the Lancers have dropped their last three road games - all by seven, or fewer, points.
- The Camels ended a five-game losing streak to Longwood on Feb. 9, 2017 with an 83-79 triumph over the Lancers at Gore Arena. Chris Clemons (25), Shane Whitfield (20), Marcus Burk (13) and Cory Gensler (13) hit double figures by the Camels, while Isaiah Walton scored a career-high 28 for Longwood.
- Before Longwood's 76-62 win over the Camels last month at Farmville, the previous three games in the series were all decided by four, or fewer, points.
- Cousins B.K. Ashe and JaShaun Smith are the only Lancers to have played in all 26 games this year, while Ashe is the only one to start all 25.
- Red-shirt junior Damarion Geter, who entered '17-18 without a double-figure scoring game in his career, has amassed nine such outings this year, including each of the last three games. He had a career-high 19 (5-8 FG, 8-9 FT) in Wednesday's loss to UNC Asheville.
Following Saturday's game, Campbell returns to action Thursday (Feb. 15) at Radford in a game that will be televised by ESPNU at 9:00 p.m.
