Greensboro, N.C. - UNCG claimed the doubles point and five out of the six singles points to take a 6-1 win over Campbell Friday evening.
Dustin Werner and
Lorenz Schwab claimed the Camels' (2-3) only win in doubles action with a 6-4 victory over Connor Thompson and Ian Melnik. The Spartans (2-1) then claimed the final two decisions on the doubles sides with a 7-5 and 7-6 win.
Lorenz Schwab tabbed Campbell's only singles victory on the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Daniel Hammarstedt. With Friday's win, Schwab has now pushed his singles record to a team best 3-1 on the season.
Lucas Schaefer and
Fernando Clemente took their opponents to three sets but fell in both matchups.
Schaefer fell in the first set 6-2 before claiming the middle set, 3-6, but Melnik notched the final set 7-5.
Clemente claimed his first set with a 6-3 victory before falling in the second set 6-2. The final set ended in a tie breaker where the sophomore fell 10-6 to Jack Burkill.
The Camels return to action on Monday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the friendly confines of the Nesbit Tennis Center. The Camels have won 13 straight games at home dating back to last season.
