Streaky Camels top Gardner-Webb 5-2

Campbell has now won five straight games including two sweeps and sit atop the Big South standings

BUIES CREEK, N.C. ­- Campbell swept doubles play for the third time this season as the Camels defeated Gardner-Webb, 5-2, for their fifth straight victory.
 
Campbell (6-5, 2-0 Big South) clinched their second consecutive conference win to remain undefeated on top of the Big South Conference standings.
 
Georgina Segarra clinched the match for the Camels by claiming the third of the first three sets to finish at No. 6 over Valentine Limauge, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2. The Mataro, Spain native now sits a 6-3 on the season and has won six straight matchups in singles action.
 
Segarra's match clinching win came after Campbell swept doubles action. Ana Castillo and Segarra paired to claim their fifth straight doubles win with a 6-1 win at No. 2 over Sarah Rieckmann and Valentine Limauge.
 
Alexandra Andrivot and Isabel Boada clinched the doubles point over Sandra Bolstad and Miljana Ristic, 6-4, before Lou Regen and Lea Cutura completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 decision at No. 3.
 
Castillo won her fifth straight singles matchup with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 to give the Camels an early 2-0 lead before Andrivot put the Camels up 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2 to secure her fourth consecutive win.
 
Isabel Boada eased to her fourth straight victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 in the final matchup of the day to finish.

CU's fifth straight victory comes after a 5-2 win at College of Charleston on Wednesday. Over five game stretch, Campbell has swept two of its opponents in USC Upstate and Big South member Longwood. 
 
Campbell returns to action on Monday, March 12 as they host Charleston Southern with first serve set for 2:00 p.m. before they close out a three-game home stand on Wednesday, March 14 against North Carolina Central.
