BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Lou Regen captured the Camels only point of the contests as Campbell fell to Winthrop 6-1 Monday morning at the Rock Hill Tennis Center.
Winthrop (12-4, 6-0 BSC) swept doubles action and the first four singles courts to finish en route to its fourth win in its last five appearances. Campbell (8-7, 4-2 Big South) now sits tied for third in the Big South standings alongside Charleston Southern with a 4-2 record. Campbell took down the Buccaneers 4-3 on March 19 behind a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 clinching victory at No. 3 for
Lou Regen. Campbell's only two conference losses have come to Winthrop and Liberty who are tied for first place in the conference with a perfect 6-0 mark.
Against the Eagles,
Lou Regen notched her third consecutive victory with a 7-5, 7-3 two set victory over Megan Kauffman at No. 3. Regen has now won seven of her last nine matchups and holds a 9-4 record at No. 3 where she ranks third in the conference in the category. Over her last seven wins, the Stockholm, Sweden native has claimed five matches in just two sets and sports a 4-2 conference record at No. 3.
Georgina Segarra dropped her match at No. 6 to Ellie Burns 6-3, 6-4 for just her second conference loss of the season and now holds a 4-2 conference mark as well. Despite her loss on Monday, Segarra has still claimed eight of her last ten matchups dating back to March 10.
Alexandra Andrivot and
Isabel Boada fell to nationally ranked (No. 54) Lauren Proctor and Megan Kauffman 6-4 at No. 1. The setback marked the duo's second conference loss and the pair now sits at 4-2 in conference action after winning three out of their last five matchups.
Campbell returns to action on Thursday, March 29 as the Camels travel to Radford. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. and will kick off a double header alongside the men's team. Radford (8-6, 2-1 Big South) sits one game behind the Camels in the Big South standings and are coming off a 4-3 win over Gardner-Webb on Friday, March 23. The Highlanders travel to Charleston Southern to take on the Buccaneers on Tuesday before returning to host the Camels.
