CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Pauline Roustan claimed a win at No. 6 to clinch as Campbell defeated Charlotte 4-3 Wednesday afternoon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. The win marks the Camels' first win over the 49ers since the 2013-14 season where Campbell won 4-3.
Campbell (13-7, 6-2 Big South) dropped the doubles point and trailed 3-2 before
Alexandra Andrivot forced a decisive final match up with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) victory over Emma Scott at No. 2. The win marked her third straight win and improved her record at No. 2 to 8-5.
Pauline Roustan then clinched the final matchup of the day and the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 6 for Campbell's fifth win in a row. With the win, Roustan has now won three in a row and improves to 2-0 at No. 6 as a part of a 5-4 overall record.
Ana Castillo put the Camels on the board first with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 to bring the Camels to within one, 2-1. She now sports an 8-6 mark at No. 1.
Reigning Big South Player of the Week
Lou Regen easily claimed her eighth straight win with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Alexandra Lee. Regen now holds a 14-5 overall record and a 13-4 mark at No. 3 where she ranks second in the Big South Conference.
The Camels' only doubles win came at No. 3 where
Lea Cutura and
Lou Regen paired for their fifth win in a row with a 6-4 decision to improve their record to 10-7 on the year.
Campbell now looks ahead to the Big South Tournament which is set for April 18-21. Seeding for the tournament will be announced this weekend as earliest as Saturday night.
