HIGH POINT, N.C. – Brooke Stevens tallied four points, leading top-seeded High Point over fourth-seeded Campbell 12-5 Friday in the Big South Championship semifinals at Vert Stadium.
No. 16 HPU moved to 16-2 overall on the season with its 15
th straight win, while Campbell ends its season at 9-10.
HPU scored the game's first six goals, with Kaely Kyle's free position score giving the Panthers a 6-0 lead at the 5:25 mark.
Campbell broke through with 3:04 on the clock in the first with
Sam Carey chipping in a
Kayla Reilly pass from close range. The Panthers led 7-1 at the break.
Campbell struck first in the second half, with
Melissa Placek converting a free position attempt with 29:22 on the clock, but High Point answered with three straight goals, including a Samantha Herman score from Stevens to make it 10-2.
Stevens scored twice and assisted on two goals, adding three ground balls, while Kyle notched three goals. Nicole Pugh and Abby Hormes both collected two goals and an assist, while Maggie Williams dished out three assists.
Hayley Norris picked up five ground balls with four caused turnovers, while Jill Rall collected seven saves with two ground balls.
Placek led Campbell on the offensive end with a goal and an assist, tacking on five draw controls.

Sydney Etheridge gathered a season-best 14 saves with three ground balls.
Allison Waldhauser picked up five ground balls with two caused turnovers, while
Rose Prizzi recorded four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Megan Reilly added two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
HPU converted 3-of-8 free position shots, while Campbell was 1-for-7. The Panthers also owned a 27-20 advantage in ground balls, including a 16-9 edge in the first half. High Point also outshot the Camels 37-19.
The top-seeded Panthers will face the winner of No. 3 Winthrop vs. No. 2 Liberty in the Big South Championship game, Sunday, May 6 at noon at Vert Stadium.
