Camels defeat Wingate 7-0

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-The Women's Tennis team bounced back as they defeated Wingate today in a 7-0 sweep. The match was Campbell's first home match of the season and served as Wingate's first of their 2019 season. Campbell currently stand at 2-3 for their season.
 
Campbell took the lead early on in the match when doubles partners Lea Cutura and Alex Nicoara claimed their matchup 6-2 against Wingate pair Alisa Rudenko and Sydney Homan. Campbell's Ana Castillo and Inma Ramon paired to snag the doubles point and beat Wingate's Claudia De Andreis and Camilla Ciacci at No. 3.
 
Castillo, Nicoara, Cutura and Inma Ramon all went 2-0 overall for today's match, winning all of their singles matchups. Pauline Roustan kicked off the singles action with a 6-2, 6-1 win to beat Wingate's Malissa Marks at No. 1. Nicoara clinched the match for the Camels at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-3 singles win. Lou Regen kept the momentum going for Campbell, beating Wingate's Claudia De Andreis 6-3, 6-2 and ended the match with a 1-0 overrall record. Cutura followed with her singles win, beating Wingate player Camilla Ciacci 7-5, 6-1. Castillo defeated Alisa Rudenko with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 singles win, and Ramon ended the match for the Camels to beat Wingate's Marissa Marks with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
 
Next Match: The Camels will be back in action next Sunday as they travel to Wilmington, N.C. to take on UNCW February 10. The first serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
