HAMPTON, N.C. - Bri Bryant and
Kayla Fredendall drove in three runs each and
Megan Richards tabbed her fifth straight win as Campbell claimed the series sweep with a 9-6 win over Hampton Sunday afternoon.
Megan Richards (8-6) recorded her fifth straight win and went the full seven frames for her ninth complete game of the year. Over the complete seven frames, the junior allowed six runs on seven hits while striking out one shy of her career high with eight punch outs.
Campbell jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to a three-run home run from
Kayla Fredendall (3-for-4, 3 RBI, 1 run) in the first inning. Her fifth long ball of the year drove in
Megan Mozingo and
Bri Bryant.
Bryant singled up the middle to start the frame before Mozingo walked.
Mozingo (2-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 run) followed in the second with a single to right center which plate
Avery Wheatley (3-for-3, 2 RBI, 1 run).
The Camels (13-15, 5-1 Big South) added two more in third to extend their lead to 6-0.
Avery tabbed her first RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to right field to score
Cassie Wancheck.
Wancheck drew a walk to lead off the inning before a walk from
Christa Hall that moved her over to second. A wild pitch moved her over to third before Wheatley plated her.
Bri Bryant (3-for-5, 3 RBI, 1 run) followed with a single up the middle to score hall.
The Pirates (15-8, 0-3) added a run in the fifth and sixth before marking four in the final frame.
Campbell's three run sixth proved to be the difference, however.
Avery Wheatley singled to short to bring home
Kynadi Tipler before Bryant singled to right field to bring home
Christa Hall and
Cassie Wancheck to make it 9-1.
