LYNCHBURG, Va. - Campbell earned top honors at the TYR '85 Invitational after securing the best team score of the weekend as the meet wrapped up Sunday evening at the Liberty Natatorium.
The meet win marks the first win over Liberty since 2011 when the Camels defeated the Flames (111-94) and later outscoring Liberty at the CCSA Championships (164-94).
The Fighting Camels earned two individual-event wins and another relay event title finished with 2,757 points, ranking ahead of 2,318 for UNC Asheville and 2,018 for meet hosts Liberty.
Campbell swept all relay events at the three-day meet as Annie Sanchez, Neringa Cerniauskaite, Meredith Ashburn and Colleen Renshaw placed first in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:26.77. The B-team of Simone Palomo, Maialen Sudupe, Zoe Malphurs and Julia Sherlock took third in the same event with a time of 3:31.48.
Lauren Shoemaker earned an individual-event win in the 200 fly, taking top honors with a time of 2:03.61.
María Kristjánsdóttir picked up another individual-event win as she placed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.45) while Isabella Gaskey took second (2:21.04).
Renshaw placed second with a time of 50.94, just short of her own school-record time (50.86) while Sanchez took third in 51.94. Sudupe took third in the 200 back in 2:02.87.
