BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Wrapping up our Meet the Class of 2021 series, Colin Nation.
Originally from Land O' Lakes, Fla. and the brother of Campbell redshirt sophomore
Troy Nation, he currently lives in Okinawa, Japan.
Nation was previously ranked No. 69 overall in the class of 2021 by FloWrestling before moving to Japan, and was a 2019 Florida state champion. Nation was also a NHSCA All-American and a Knockout Classic Champion.
Nation projects at 184 or 197 pounds at CU.
Head coach Scotti Sentes on Nation:
"Colin Nation is a forgotten gem. He was one of the highest-ranked wrestlers in the entire 2021 class before moving to Japan. He is strong, long, and wrestles hard.
"He has spent the last year in Japan fighting in MMA, competing in wrestling tournaments, and practicing with the Japanese National team every chance he could get. He has dominated the competition over there but has not been able to see much tough competition as the best folkstyle wrestlers are in the United States. It will be exciting to see what he does when he has the training partners and coaches who can push him. I expect him to grow tremendously in his first year being back in the United States and I am excited to see what he is capable of when surrounded by practice partners that can push him."
