DURHAM, N.C. -- Campbell only dropped three sets Monday afternoon to top North Carolina Central 6-1 at the NCCU Tennis Courts.
Campbell (1-2) opened by claiming the doubles point, winning at all three courts.
Bastien Huon and
Ondrej Labik opened with a 6-2 win at No. 2 before
Raphael Calzi and
Gustavs Lukstins paired to clinch the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 1.
Newcomers
Robin Angles and
Noe Macquart then joined to tally a 6-2 win at No. 3.
NC Central (0-6) secured its lone win of the day to open singles play as Miles Clark won in two sets at No. 4 6-2, 6-4.
After Miles tied the match, 1-1, Campbell responded with four two set wins and a three setter to close the match.
Calzi tallied a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 to make it 2-1 in favor of Campbell before Labik secured a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Huon got taken to three sets at No. 2 but secured the 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 comeback victory over Amit Baran.
Macquart then tabbed a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 before Lukstins sealed the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6.Â
Campbell returns to action on Saturday against Elon at 1:00 p.m. for the Camels' home-opener.
