CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Campbell softball team fell to Charlotte, 7-4, on the first day of the Green And White Classic hosted by the 49ers.
Campbell drops to 5-7 on the season while Charlotte improves to 7-6.

For the fifth time in the past six games, Campbell scored multiple runs in the first inning starting with a leadoff hit from Destini England. Two runs scored for the Camels as a pair of errors committed by the 49ers allowed runners to cross the plate.
Charlotte tied the game in the second, scoring off of two hits and a Campbell error, and took the lead in the third on three straight hits to begin the inning.
Mackenzie Parker doubled and Noemi Cortez singled, both with two outs, in the fourth as Diana Parker reclaimed the lead for the Camels on her two RBI double to right field.
The 49ers answered, tying the game at 4-4 in the bottom half of the fourth while adding runs in the next two innings to claim a 7-4 win over the Camels.
England improved her hit streak from the leadoff spot to seven games after going 2-for-4 and scoring one run today while Katelyn Chisholm added a career-best two hits for the Camels.
Bailey Vannoy led the 49ers going 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in two more.
Kayla Howald (1-4) pitched 4.0 innings in relief, giving up two earned runs and striking out five. Carson Pace (1-3) picked up the win for the 49ers after allowing one hit, walking three and striking out two.Â
