Camels 6th after 36 holes of Border Olympics

LAREDO, TEXAS – Henrik Lilja is sixth individually and Campbell sits sixth in the team standings after 36 holes Monday of the Border Olympics, hosted by the University of Houston at Max Mandel Golf Course.
 
Campbell (291-292—583) is one shot behind No.-35 Houston (297-285—582) entering Tuesday's final round, which is set for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.  Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
 
Sam Houston State (289-276—565) is atop the team leader board at 11-under par, five strokes leader of Texas-San Antonio (570). Louisiana-Monroe is third (572) and defending champion Arkansas State fourth (578) in the 17-team field.
 
A sophomore from Gothenburg, Sweden, Lilja fired a collegiate career-low 3-under 69 in the first round and is two-under (69-73—142) through 36 holes on the par-72, 7297-yard Max Mandel Golf Course.  Lilja leads the event in par-4 scoring (-4) after making eight birdies and 22 pars Monday.
 
Sam Houston State teammates Noah Steele (66-69—135) and William Holcomb (71-67—138) are one-two on the individual leader board.
 
Campbell junior Pontus Nyholm is tied for 13th at even-par 144 (72-72) after making 10 birdies (T3rd) and playing the par-4 layouts at 1-under.
 
In his collegiate debut, freshman Alejandro Cogollo is tied for 38th (75-73—148) on the leader board and is tied for the tournament lead with 27 pars.  Junior Josh Hetherington is tied for 48th (75-74—149), while senior Max Theodorakis is tied for 58th (75-75—150) with 18 holes to play.
 
As a team, the Camels lead the field in par-4 scoring (even) on the obert Trent Jones II design.
