MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Heavy rains forced the suspension of the opening round of the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate late in the afternoon Sunday at Grande Dunes Resort Club.
With one to four holes remaining, Campbell stood 10-over as a team in the 16-school field. Play is scheduled to resume at 9:30 a.m. Monday with the second round to start at 10:30 a.m. The 54-hole event concludes with Tuesday's final round on the par-72, 7578-yard Grande Dunes layout.
Campbell freshman
William Sundborn stood at even-par through 15 holes, while junior
Joachim Larsen Tegner was 1-over through 13 and fellow junior
Erik Johansson 2-over through 14. Freshman
Adrian Bergqvist was 7-over through 14 and sophomore
Benjamin Killingstad 10-over through 17 when play was halted.
Jack Lee of Coastal Carolina was one of 27 golfers in the 90-man field to finish 18 holes Sunday and held a two-shot lead at 7-under par (65) over Brett Moore of Florida Gulf Coast.
Host Coastal Carolina and FGCU both stood 10-under when play stopped Sunday, five strokes better than VCU and Elon.
