NORFOLK, VA – The Campbell swim team dropped a close one by a final tally of 137-124 to Old Dominion Saturday afternoon at the Scrap Chandler Pool.
The Camels are now 1-2-1 on the year while ODU is 1-0 after not swimming during the fall.
After taking second in the 400 IM to start the meet, the Camels took two of the top three spots in both the 1000 free and again in the 200 free.
In the 1000 free,
Avery Rogers (11:06.78) grabbed second and
Maggie Whitman (11:10.57) took third.
The first individual win of the day came in the 200 free when
Annie Sanchez swam a 1:55.97. Sanchez finished just ahead of
Neringa Cerniauskaite at 1:57.28.
Other individual wins came from
Lauren Shoemaker in the 200 Fly (2:10.57),
Simone Palomo in the 100 fly (57.87) and Kristine Mikkelsen in the 400 IM (4:37.36).
Cerniauskaite had a strong all-around day, finishing in the top-3 in the 200 free, 50 free, 100 free and was part of the first-place 200 free relay team. She also set her new season-best in the 100 free with a time of 53.60.
Other season-bests were set by
Annie Sanchez in the 100 free at 52.92, Kristine Mikkelsen in the 400 IM,
Skyler DeWall in 200 Fly (2:11.83), Izza Gaskey in the 100 and 200 breaststroke (1:08.71, 2:28.41) and Liz Sparacino in the 200 breast, the 200 fly and the 400 IM.
The Camels return to action next Saturday when they travel to Lynchburg, Va. for a meet with the Liberty Flames.
