LEXINGTON, VA. – Campbell swept a Saturday tri-meet in Lexington, Va., topping Ohio and VMI.

The Camels (2-1) defeated Ohio (1-4) 34-6, then shut out VMI (1-2) in their first Southern Conference dual of the 2020-21 season. The shutout was Campbell's first since defeating Presbyterian 55-0 last season (January 25, 2020).

The win over Ohio marked the first dual victory for first year Campbell head coach Scotti Sentes.

Ohio also defeated VMI 21-18 to start the day.

In the day's opening match, Campbell claimed eight bouts, including three forfeits to take the 34-6 win over Ohio, a late addition to Saturday's contests after second year SoCon program Presbyterian was forced to cancel.

The Camels picked up forfeit wins at 125, 133 and 149 pounds, with Caleb Hopkins also collecting bonus points with a 16-3 major decision over Carson Brewer at 184 pounds. At 141, Shannon Hanna picked up his first win as a Camel, 6-1 over Ohio's Colin Yinger, while Benjamin Barton topped Jordan Slivka 5-2 at 157.

Camels earned four bonus point wins, including three technical falls and a pin to power over VMI 39-0. Zurich Storm at 125, Gabriel Hixenbaugh at 133 and Benjamin Barton at 157 all registered tech falls for Campbell, while Caleb Hopkins added a pin at 184 for the Camels.

Taye Ghadiali's 6-2 decision over Robbie Adelstein at heavyweight completed the shutout for CU.

Next up, the Camels will make their only scheduled home appearance of the 2020-21 season, hosting SoCon rivals Appalachian State and Gardner-Webb on January 23.
